Overview

Dan is a 2004 graduate of Williamsville North High School in Amherst, NY where he was a multiple sport star. In football, Dan was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter, including two at quarterback and one at wide receiver. He completed 122 of 207 passes for 1,407 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior, and all of those were school records. Dan was honored as the offensive MVP of his league and as a Western New York All-Academic team selection. He set a then-school record with 539 yards receiving in his sophomore season and also lettered four years in baseball, three in basketball and one in hockey.

In 2004, Dan redshirted at Maryland an was named offensive scout player of the week once that year. During his RS freshman year in 2005, Dan got into two games as a TE and caught a couple balls good for 37 yards. In 2006, he started 9 games and caught a couple passed for 11 yards on the season. In 2007, he put up 7 catches for 64 while starting 8 games and missing several others with an injury.

Dan worked out well, and impressed with his physique at the NFL Combine.

Strengths

Has the size and decent speed. Can stretch the seam a little and has decent hands. Sells the "block & releases" well and gets off quickly. Fights for the ball. Willing to work as a blocker. Has been in a school known for TE play, and has had good models to follow. Has some athleticism and some upside.

Weaknesses

Still very young to the position. Has never really put it all together despite 5 years in the Maryland program. May struggle to ever become an elite blocker. Has never been very productive, despite the opportunity.

Projection

6-7th rounder.
