OverviewVictor Abiamari was a highly regarded prep out of Gilman HS (Baltimore, MD). He was a first-team All-American, and he was on most every top 100 prep list that you could find. In addition to leading his team to a undefeated conference title, he also was a three-time all conference player in basketball and track and field.
He choose Notre Dame over offers from Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, and Stanford, where he saw playing time early. He became only the fourth freshman in school history to earn a start on the defensive line since 1991. He continued to improve, and he earned the starting job his junior year posting career highs in both tackles and sacks. After an excellent follow-up season his senior year, Abiamiri is starting to show why he was a highly rated prep. StrengthsHe has an elite blend of size and speed for his position. He has the speed to give chase downfield. His agility and footwork allow him to stunt and even drop back into coverage. He is a powerful and explosive player who delivers a pop off the line. His main pass rush technique is an outside speed rush that he can finish with a rip outside or a spin inside. He is a physical player who goes hard every snap and plays through the whistle. He still has upside left.
WeaknessesHe doesn't use his wingspan effectively to keep blockers out of his body. He doesn't show the playing strength to consistently shed blocks and flow to the ball. He can get lost on draws and screens.
ProjectionHis workout numbers should be impressive. His production, athleticism, and size should place him in the early to mid second round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

User: rdoyle Date/Time: 03/14/2007 - 5:30PM CDT Predicted Round: Round 2 He's got lots of upside. He's a well-built athlete who is capable of taking over games, but he rarely does so. Given the right coaching and the right teammates to push him, he could be a special player someday. This player has improved every year. From his Jr. to Sr. years, he went from 8 to 10.5 sacks, and doubled his FF from 1-2, and QBP from 7-14. Just keeps coming every down. Would love to see him wearing the helmet of one of my two teams. User: B_rent87 Date/Time: 02/13/2007 - 1:54PM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 No Comments Submitted Rate This Player |
