Overview2009 Thornton was selected Pre-season All-Southwestern Athletic Conference for the 2009 college football season as voted on by the league, coaches, sports information departments and selected members of the media after 63 tackles, six interceptions, breaking up seven other passes and forcing three fumbles.
At the HBCU Senior Bowl he was pulled aside by NFL scouts for quick interviews after the workouts. StrengthsHis impressive physique and large frame are intriguing to teams like Antrel Rolle and last year's CB/S 'tweener Malcolm Jenkins who was taken by the Saints, he may produce as a safety if he struggles on the corner. He is a good tacler and aggressive againt the run as well as flashing very good ball skills.
WeaknessesStill a bit raw in his footwork and route recognition, but reps and film study should help.
ProjectionThornton is one of three or 4 HBCU prospects with a chance to really climb if he runs in the mid 4.4 range and looks great in drills he could climb a full round or possibly higher.
