Overview

Kellen is a 2005 graduate of Wylie E. Groves High School in Beverly Hills, Michigan where he was an All-area honorable mention performer. His father, Kenneth Woodard, played LB for the Denver Broncos in the mid-80s.

Kellen originally enrolled at Western Michigan and redshirted there before transferring to TSU in 2006. As a redshirt freshman in 2006, he played in five games and collected six tackles (5 solo, 1 assist.) In 2007, he started 7-of-11 games played and tallied 49 tackles (27 solo, 22 assists) with 13 tackles for losses, and 5 sacks. In 2008, he started 9-of-11 games played and registered 31 tackles (18 solo,13 assists) with 8TFLs and 5 more sacks. In 2009, he started all 11 games and put up 51 total tackles (23 solo) with 8.5 TFLs, 5 more sacks, 2 PBUs, 5 hurries and a FF.

Strengths

College DE that has played LB, and can probably be shifted back there. Poor man's Shawn Crable. Has some nice pro size and decent agility. Has been a fairly productive player for a mid-to-upper-level FCS program. Not highly recruited but has kept after it and made himself a prospect. Can drop into coverage and can rush the QB. 15 QB sacks the past three seasons. Will work hard and wants it. Comes from LB stock, and is a good person. Played out of position mostly at DE so is a hard evaluation and projection.

Weaknesses

Not terribly explosive, and has not played LB for a long time. Would be eaten alive at the POA if left on the D-line. Has not faced top level college OTs on a regular basis, let alone NFL ones. Has a long way to go, still, despite his impressive college improvement progression curve. Smallish for D-line, and lacks elite instincts at OLB. A pure project.

Projection

UDFA.
