OverviewGunnell is Boston College's all-time leader in receiving yards with 2459 in his career (broke Pete Mitchell's record). He's second in receptions (181) and fourth in TDs (18). As a senior in 2009, he was voted team MVP after starting all 13 games and being selected as All-ACC Honorable Mention. He finished the season with 60 catches for 880 yards and 7 TDs. His final game, the Emerald Bowl against USC, saw him tally 6 catches for 130 yards and a TD. During his career, he has also returned punts and kicks effectively. In 2007, as a RS sophomore, he became Matt Ryan's big-play receiver.
StrengthsGunnell is a classic possession receiver who has the ability to make the big play as well. He's an excellent route runner who can get open. Gunnell is a solid hand-catcher who shows excellent ball skills. He's not afraid to go across the middle and plays a physical game. He'll take a hit and has the concentration to hold onto the ball. He's also a willing and effective blocker. Gunnell is a smart, productive player with tremendous work ethic, character, and leadership ability.
WeaknessesGunnell doesn't display much in the way of deep speed or quickness. He's a bit smaller than most teams would like as well.
ProjectionGunnell has a chance to hear his name late in the 2010 NFL Draft if he runs well at his pro day, but is more likely to be a priority free agent.
