OverviewA speed guy whom will wow them at the combine. Not as physical as Richard Marshall (FSU, '05), but has the potential to be an even better cover corner than the former Bulldog's star. Ran a 4.31 during his junior pro day in front of the NFL scouts.
StrengthsBlazing speed. Very good size for the position. Good strength. Solid open field tackler. Displays good change of direction, backpedal and overall technique. One of the better man-to-man shutdown corners in college football. Disrupts the receiver in the first five yards. Can cover the big guy, and the shifty or fast guy. Has played in the pass-happy WAC. Do not be fooled by the lack of stats, as team's avoid his side of the field like the plague.
WeaknessesNot a real killer when tackling. Lacks a bit of polish in pass defense. Needs to be coached up. Can guess wrong and take poor angles. Content to let others do the work if the ball is going the other way. Had an average senior year, and never reached anywhere near the kind of game-to-game consistency his coaches and fans were hoping for.
ProjectionIf he runs in the mid-to-low 4.3s at the Combine he should still go no later than the second round.

I see him sliding and being picked late in the first day. Personally, I think he should be a second day pick and then earn respect in the league with his play rather than his measurables. New England Head Coach Bill Belichick likely has all the info on Marcus since Bulldogs Head Coach Pat Hill is from the Belichick coaching tree. Belichick is likely to fall in love with Marcus' versatility, and the fact that Marcus can play all four secondary positions. User: w4rrior723 Date/Time: 02/1/2007 - 9:54PM CST Predicted Round: Round 2 Deffinately hurt his stock with a poor senior campaign to say the least. and hurt it even further with a horrendous senior bowl week. He's a mid-late 2nd rounder as of now but when he runs his 40 at the combine he'll have NFL coaches and GM's drooling all over it. He will probubly end up being a late 1st rounder User: jessev888 Date/Time: 01/30/2007 - 12:48PM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 No Comments Submitted User: klamar7 Date/Time: 12/10/2006 - 6:34AM CST Predicted Round: Round 4 All hype. Terrible senior campaign. Most disappointing prospect I have seen this year. Saw his games against LT, LSU, and BSU and he got burnt every game, and gave up a few TD's. Not strong in run support either. Commentators said he was benched for a few series during LT game. Will probably test very well though. Rate This Player |
