OverviewIupati has become regarded by many as the top offensive guard in the country in 2009. A Walter Camp All-American, Outland Trophy finalist, Lombardi Award Nominee and 1st Team All-WAC, he is a big, strong and technically sound player who has the potential to become a dominant guard in the NFL. Came back from shoulder surgery in 2008 and will get his 21st consecutive start against Bowling Green in the Humanitarian Bowl.
StrengthsPhysically very strong and able to dominate his opponent at the point of attack. Decent quickness off the ball allows him get into opponent low and drive him out of the hole. Arm and hand strength provides vice-like grip to control his opponent in close. Mobile and agile enough to get out in front of sweeps.
WeaknessesWhile his run blocking is strong, he needs to improve his pass blocking to be complete at the next level. Needs to bend his kness more and keep his pad level lower than the defender when coming out of his stance. He has been able to use his superior strength and wing span to compensate, but he will be exposed against NFL defensive linemen.
Projection2nd round. Has 1st round potential with exceptional Senior Bowl and combine performances.

Date/Time: 01/17/2010 - 10:33AM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 Idaho threw the ball and threw the ball with impunity. Any questions about the guys feet were answered in the humanitarian bowl. I guarantee K.C. is figuring out a way to move down and draft the guy. He'll never past the Texans at twenty ( sure fire lock need at RG.). And it wouldn't surprise me at all If great power O teams like Miami and Pittsburgh get into a war to move up and draft the guy in the teens. The guy is instant rushing attack in a box. People giggle like a bowl of jello when he gets into them on his initial hit. User: NinerFan85 Date/Time: 12/8/2009 - 10:38PM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 I'll go with a late round 1 projection. He's the most powerful run blocker in the draft and he's good in pass protection, good enough that there is talk of him potentiall moving to OT. I wouldn't do it. Keep him at OG and watch him become an all-pro. I hope he drops to round(2) but that is just for selfish reasons. Most top rated gaurds go between 20-35. It is still early but I think he will be one of those. Only his levle of competition is a question mark. Rate This Player |
