OverviewJohn is a three-year starting quarterback for the Cougars. A two-time All-Mountain West Conference First-Team Selection with numerous other small annual awards. He is the most exciting offensive player in the MWC by far over his three-year tenure and has lead his team to many fourth-quarter comebacks.
StrengthsQuick release, good vision, good pocket awareness, money in the two-minute drill, and a great quarterback arm. John will make the "How did he do that?" throws and the "nail-biting deep fade/corner of the endzone" throws.
WeaknessesNot a loud vocal type of leader but does lead well by example. One has to wonder what would happen if he did not get so much time to throw. He needs to learn the lesson of when to throw the ball away. Slow and not much of a threat running the ball in the open field. Age may concern some teams as he will turn 26 before the start of the NFL season.
ProjectionJohn is the most unappreciated quarterback in the 2007 draft if not the most unappreciated player. With that statement in mind I think John could reasonably go between the 3rd and the 5th round. I should not be the only one shocked if he is picked in the 2nd round. The only two things knocking John from becoming a 1st round talent are his height and his competition level.

Date/Time: 03/25/2007 - 8:14PM CDT Predicted Round: Round 3 I agree with the comments. I will not be shocked if he is a round 2 pick, but some lucky team will pick him up. User: Travis0190 Date/Time: 03/17/2007 - 9:29PM CDT Predicted Round: Round 2 He's the best QB coming out, Russell and Quinn included. He sees the blitz better than both of them, has a better arm, and knows how to avoid the rush. They make it seem like he has a lot of time, its because he does so well at avoiding it, that he rarely takes a lot of hits. He always throws a tight spiral, and has one of the quickest releases I have ever seen. Reminds me of Brett Favre. User: rdoyle Date/Time: 03/14/2007 - 5:48PM CDT Predicted Round: Round 2 Beck has a cannon for an arm. He also interviews very well and seems like the type of guy who you'd want on your team. User: smithalex Date/Time: 03/14/2007 - 5:38PM CDT Predicted Round: Round 6 People will pass and pass till a lucky team will pick up this proven winner and groom him into a Brad Johnson type QB. User: robute27 Date/Time: 03/13/2007 - 7:00PM CDT Predicted Round: Round 5 Could be best career backup QB in years! User: BearsWIN Date/Time: 02/18/2007 - 4:22PM CST Predicted Round: Round 5 Amazing arm and accuracy. Wasn't a leader at BYU, but made big plays when counted on. Will be fairly old as a rookie at 26.
