OverviewHas seen the most mercurial rise in stock of any QB in this year's Draft - perhaps of any player regardless of position.
StrengthsGreat height. Has a frame to carry more muscle. Very good arm strength. Pretty good accuracy and touch. Spreads the ball around a bit. Has enough mobility to avoid the rush, and senses it pretty well. Seems to read defenses and go through progressions well.
WeaknessesThin. Will need to learn to play in a pro offense. Has spent the majority of his career in the shotgun in a spread offense. Was clearly frustrated by the speed of the Florida defense in the Sugar Bowl - how's he going to handle a pro defense?
ProjectionClearly belongs in the second round and could easily develop into a starting NFL QB.

Outside of that, I see a limited NFL starting QB. His arm and upside at the next level are questionable but I think he can stick on a roster for about 8-10 years because he's a smart QB. Too much upside here to pass up for Oakland, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Seattle, Washington, and even Cincinnati. User: Johanns21 Date/Time: 09/29/2009 - 9:21AM CDT Predicted Round: Round 2 Tony Pike is probably playing the best out off all the quarterbacks in College Football. He has the size, makes good descions, can makes all the throws, and is accurate. I think the thing that hurts him now is that he plays in the spread and this has been his only year as the starter. I would say that right now he is a late second early third pick, but can move up to the first round if he keeps this up and does well at the combine. Rate This Player |
