Important LinksStatsOverviewTrae Rutland, a former Mississippi State quarterback, is now the JSU Tiger's senior signal-caller, though he lead the Tigers to a SWAC Eastern Division title as well as a trip to the conference championship game last season, Rutland was tantalizingly inconsistent in 2008. The Mississippi State transfer threw for 1,423 yards 10 interceptions and only seven touchdown passes, not to mention that he lead the team to losing record against opponents above. 500. He also played in eight games in the 2007 season. He will again enter preseason camp as the starter, but once again he’s being pushed by Louisiana Tech transfer Michael Mosley. However, many still believe Rutland can overcome injuries, uneven performances in past seasons and an inconsistent offensive line to prove he is a real prospect in this upcoming season.

WeaknessesRutland has real potential but his: mechanics, accuracy, decision making and reading of defenses will have to improve dramatically.
ProjectionUDFA but with a great season and strong post-season workouts it's not impossible that Rutland could be worth a late round flier.
