Overview

Brandon is a 2006 graduate of Varinia H.S. in Richmond, Virginia where he helped his school reach the Central Region championship game as a sophomore. His team compiled a 30-3 record during his three seasons as a starter. Brandon tore a hip flexor muscle in the first game of his senior season and did not play again until seven weeks later. He rushed for 4,259 yards and scored 64 touchdowns during his career. Minor was limited as a senior due to injury, rushing 71 times for 418 yards and scored 10 TDs. He gained 2,091 rushing yards and scored 32 TDs as a junior, averaging 10.7 yards per carry. He also broke state playoff rushing records with 256 yards in the first two half and rushed for 1,756 yards and 25 touchdowns as a sophomore. Coming out of high school, Brandon was rated the No. 73 overall player in the nation by USA Today. He was tabbed as the No. 8 player in the state by the Charlottesville Daily Progress and a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 29 running back according to Scout.com. Brandon was listed in the Super Southern 100 of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and as Tom Lemming's No. 11 tailback and No. 73 prep player nationally . Finally, he was a four-star prospect and the nation's top rated fullback according to Rivals.com.

As a true freshman in 2006, Brandon played in nine games at tailback and 10 overall games . He was second on the team in rushing with 42 carries for 238 yards (5.7 avg.) and two touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2007, he appeared in 12 games and was again the team's second-leading rusher with a career-high 90 carries for 385 yards (4.3 avg.) and one touchdown. He also caught three passes for one yard, and was second on the team with 13 kickoff returns for 257 yards (19.8 avg.). As a junior in 2008, he was an All-Big Ten honorable mention and played in 11 games and started four contests at superback and the led team in scoring with 66 points. His 11 touchdowns led the team. He rushed 103 times for a career-high 533 yards and nine touchdowns and added five receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns.

Strengths

Faster than we have him currently listed, I suspect. Plays like a 4.45 guy. Cuts back well. Stiff arms. Keeps leg churning on contact. Has some wiggle and an above average jump cut, especially while already in the hole. Just enough size and speed to be quick and powerful as a middle runner, and can bust it wide if people are keying the middle.

Weaknesses

Not much of a pass catcher, and has not been used in the passing game. Smallish for being much of a factor in blitz pickup. As a result of these shortcomings he may only be a spot back at the next level, until/unless he can improve in those areas. Can not be a 3rd down back.

Projection

Looks like a 5th rounder right now. Should be a solid change of pace back, but his lack of a pass-catching resume will hurt.
