OverviewStrengthsDeclared early along with Jimmy Clausen following the firing of Head Coach Charlie Weiss. Like Clausen, had a dynamic break-out season. Not big or blindingly fast, yet was probably the best deep-ball receiver in the nation. Great leaping ability and vice-like hands enable him to win virtually every jump ball. Fine athlete with excellent body control and balance, great quickness and deceptive speed. Displays the ability to beat the jam and separate from coverage. Fearlessly goes over the middle despite his size. Excellent run-after-catch skills; has even been used some at running back and wildcat QB. Can line up in the slot or outside, and has dynamic abilities in the return game. Still getting better and has great upside.
WeaknessesNot very tall and not sprinter fast. Will drop the easy catch on occasion. Limited in his route running abilities; in school he mostly ran screens or went deep.
ProjectionBest football is in front of him, and he could possibly sneak into the late first round with a strong combine showing. Barring disaster, no worse than a second-round pick.

Date/Time: 02/3/2010 - 7:07PM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 vicdemize must be a USC alum to think Golden will fall to the 4th. At worst he goes mid 2nd and as early as mid 1st. He has so much potential to be a better NFL WR than he was an NCAA WR. And he definetly shouldn't have stayed another year. He lost his QB, half the OLine, Offensive minded HC and would have killed his draft stock. User: RichEisenIsGod Date/Time: 01/6/2010 - 4:06PM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 Second wide out off the board. A middle class man's Percy Harvin. User: vicdemize Date/Time: 12/9/2009 - 12:32PM CST Predicted Round: Round 4 Lawdog you must be a golden domer to think Tate is a second round pick. I do like him and think his potential as a slot WR with kickoff return ability. To me he is similar to Wes Welker. He should of stayed one more year but I can't blame him for leaving with Klausen. User: lawdog Date/Time: 12/4/2009 - 8:07PM CST Predicted Round: Round 2 If he was a little faster or a little bigger he'd go in the first round. Great early second round pick. Reminds me of Issac Bruce of the Rams. Maybe the Rams take him with a top 3 pick in the second round. Rate This Player |
