OverviewTerrell Skinner is a fifth-year player who has started each of the last two season as FS for the Terps. The former WR moved to the defense before the 2006 season and has started 23 of the 44 games he's played in. Earned an invite to the 2010 Senior Bowl after an impressive senior season that saw him tally 67 tackles and a pick. Also served as a kick returner as a sophomore and junior. Former high school QB and basketball player.
StrengthsSkinner has excellent size and athleticism for the FS position. He's a tall, rangy player with a good head on his shoulders. Keeps the action in front of him, and doesn't allow many big plays to occur deep. Takes good angles to the ball and can avoid blockers. Solid tackler both in the open field and while fighting through traffic. Seems to relish his role in run support.
WeaknessesSkinner plays too tentatively, almost afraid to give up the big play. He'll give up the short pass and be satisfied with that rather than take a chance at a big play and, in turn, give up a big play the other way. Skinner possesses good straight-line speed, but lacks the quickness and fluidity to change direction easily. Initially struggled to accept his role when moved from receiver to defense.
ProjectionSkinner's size, physicality, and straight-line speed should get him drafted in the 5th or 6th round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He'll have to show more aggressiveness on the field to make it as an NFL FS.

Date/Time: 03/24/2010 - 11:19PM CDT Predicted Round: Round 5 His size helps him greatly. He is a good athlete for his size and can cover reasonably well man-to-man. Seems like a perfect fit for a team like Indy. Rate This Player |
