OverviewRed-shirt sophomore B.J. Cunningham had joined with Dell and White to give the Spartans a formidable receiving trio he had 48 catches for 641 yards a 13.4 average with a long of 73 and 4 TDs.
StrengthsCunningham has very good size and leaping ability and flashes some big-play skills on jump balls downfield. His body control and concentration seem to peak when he must out jump a defender for a ball.
WeaknessesDespite his skills Cunningham is possession receiver in terms of speed and quickness. He lacks suddeness, he has build up speed though his route running is good enough on intermediate routes like curls, comebacks and digs but he has not shown RAC ability or that he can take the top off of a defense with pure speed. And is not very crisp on quick outs and slants.
The other negative is the fight that also got Rucker, Dell amongst others suspended. The investigation continues of the Rather Hall incident and it is to be determined if he was deeply involved or if he was backing up teammates. ProjectionHis exceptional hands, body control and frame are similar to Sidney Rice but he lacks refinement as a route runner and he must answer character concerns. He needs to stay in school keep his nose clean and improve his quickness, if he does he has a chance to go as early as the late 3rd, if not he could go later then the 5th.
