OverviewA big-time recruit Demetrius McCray was support to share carries with Thigpen and become the "Man" when Thigpen left. Things did not work out that way as a combination of injuries and perhaps even the previous offense failing to suit his running kept Demetrius McCray from fully developing.
StrengthsGood blend of size, speed, vision and quickness, he can break arm tackles and get to the corner.
WeaknessesMcCray has struggled with nagging leg and foot injuries and though not a small back McCray does not always hit the hole with authority. McCray isn't a pure power runner, but he must give holes an opportunity to form before giving up on running between the tackles, he must be patient enough to really press the hole prior to attempting to cut back or bounce it to the perimeter.
Also he has been little used in the passing game, he'll need to show he has good hands and can line up blitzers. ProjectionSimilar to Pierre Thomas at Illinois, if Demetrius McCray can stay healthy, add some power and become a reliable part of the passing game he might be a real value as a UDFA.
