Overview

Highly decorated athlete coming out of Central H.S. in Louisville, KY back in 2006. Corey was listed as a Top 25 DT recruit nationally by Rivals.com, and was pursued by Ohio State, Michigan and Louisville as well before settling on the Wildcats.

Corey played in 11 games with 2 starts as a true freshman, and recorded 18 tackles and a sack. In 2007, he racked up 43 tackles, 4 TFLs, and 2.5 sacks. As a true junior in 2008, his line was: 36 tackles, 10 TFLS, and 4 sacks. His senior season was again a very productive one as he logged 56 total tackles, 12 TFLs, 4 sacks and 5 PBUs, to go along with 6 hurries a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

His career mark of 143 tackles by an interior defensive tackles is one of the finest in recent memory in the SEC or anywhere, and his 26 TFLs and 11.5 career sacks are noteworthy as well. Did get a Combine invite after the 2009 season and measured 6'3.2", 300, with 34" arms, 9'4" hands, and ran a very respectable 5.02 forty.

Strengths

Big, tough and productive. Can play a 3-4 DE, or the 4-3 UT. Has been a steadily improving guy who wants it and works hard. Takes coaching and criticism well. Can get some heat on the QB from the DT slot, and is a solid run stuffer and will fight the double team. Maintained his improvement and production even after his older NFL-caliber d-line mates moved on. Under the radar a little. Has the heart. Has some moves.

Weaknesses

Lacks outstanding, standout, testing numbers. Is more of a yeoman than a flashy leader. Gets the job done, but rarely makes the game changing plays. Not big enough to be a NT in a 3-4, and may lack some of the explosiveness and overall length you want as a 3-4 DE. May be limited to a 4-3 UT position at the next level. Loses some stamina if you ask him to put on weight. Loses some POA ability if you ask him to drop. Is what he is.

Projection

4-5th rounder who could climb if the word gets out a bit more....
