Date/Time: 01/27/2010 - 9:07AM CST Predicted Round: Round 3 Matt Kopa reminds me of Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas when he was at Wisconsin. Like Thomas, Kopa is an intellectual, gentle giant, who is far from an aggressive type in his off-field persona. Like Thomas, Kopa also played defensive line before being moved to offensive tackle his Junior year. The thing that stands out about Kopa is the pleasure he takes in all of those pancake blocks he throws on opponents --- especially on off-tackle sweeps and the occasions he is able to get downfield and put the smacketh downeth on someone. Kopa plays with a nasty streak, and he had some really spectacular decleaters in 2008 --- to include pushing USC's LB Brian Cushing (and ccurrent NFL All-Pro LB) 5 yards backwards before finally knocking him on his ass! Kopa was expected to have a breakout yeat in 2009 but unfortuantely borke his foot. As evidence of his toughness, Kopa played more than half the game against Washington State with a broken foot, and still managed to make a key block to open a huge hole for Toby Gerhart to run 39 yards for a TD with less than 5 minutes remaining. Kopa has a huge upside, and so whatever team picks him is going to get a heckuva steal! Rate This Player |
