OverviewDuane was a high school quarterback and a 2006 graduate of MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas. He was a three-year starter and he helped his squad to a 10-0 season as a senior while completing 112-of-194 (58 percent) passes for 1,757 yards and 21 touchdowns with only three interceptions.
Played two years with Dan LeFevour at Central Michigan in 2006 and 2007 before transferring the the SLC before the '08 season. At SFAU, he began to make a big impression as a junior in 2008, when he put up 68 catches for 864 yards and 4 TDs and was named SLC Newcomer of the Year. Followed up on those numbers with a fine senior season and a trip to the FCS semifinals when he tallied 118-076-6. StrengthsSmart football player who is quick, fast and heady. Above average hands. Smooth routes. Sets up DBs. Tracks well and wins his share of jump balls. Deep threat at the FCS level, for sure. Has played with two of the better QBs in the college game, and can play Wildcat QB in a pinch. Nice kid who will work and wants to get better.
WeaknessesNot particularly big, fast and not a great highlight-reel pass receiver. Catches what he should and not too much more. Needs more route refinement. Needs to keep working hard. Stats are a bit inflated by the pass-happy offense he played in and the LOC.
ProjectionPriority UDFA.
