Overview

Very fluid, fast and quick but raw as sushi, he might be a real find, but he will need time to incubate. Allen was a 2006 East Coast All-Star Bowl selection. 21-283 yards, 1 TD, 13.5 YPC in 06'. All-American, 1st team All-MEAC w/18-232-12.9-2 in '05. 10-115-11.5-1 in 7 games in '04. 2-11-5.5 in 6 games in '03.
Jonathan Allen turned in solid performance last Saturday at the 2006 East Coast Bowl. Allen, a senior tight end, had one reception for 31 yards. His North team pulled out a 26-24 victory on the last play of the game when quarterback Justin Rummell (Earlham) found running back Wendell Johnson (Fairmont State) for a 1-yard TD pass. Allen, a two-time first-team All-MEAC tight end, was third on the Spartans in receptions (21) and fourth in yards receiving (283). He also had one TD catch.

Strengths

Speed and athletic ability, also has pretty good hands. He is just developing and has impressive upside.

Weaknesses

His route running and reading defenses is coming along but he has a ways to go. Not very much of a blocker but gives good effort.

Projection

He is one of the fastst TEs in this years draft but he needs to get stronger and refine his pattern running and reading of defenses.
