OverviewYvenson has been one of the most efficient and consistent runningbacks in the Pac-10 the past 3 years. He is the best runningback you have never heard of. He finishes 6th all time in Pac-10 rushing yards and 2nd all time in Oregon State football. Led Beavers to 4 straight bowl game wins, 2 of which he was MVP. Extremely tough and durable with 45 career starts despite almost 800 career carries. 2006 First Team All Pac-10, 2007 2nd team, and 2005 Honorable Mention.
StrengthsYvenson is a bowling ball type of runningback. He htis the hole hard and quickly and will almost always pick up solid yards. Runs with grit and toughness and isn't afraid to take on defenders that are much bigger than him. Very consistent runner who never takes a play off regardless of whether the play is for him or not. An excellent receiver as a runningback finishing with 118 receptions, good enough for 8th all time on the Oregon State team. Also has a nose for the endzone, with 38 career rushing touchdowns. Great at pushing forward for the endzone, grinded out the last few yards. Low center of gravity, great balance, tough to take down as a linebacker because he is so slippery and quick. Great durability and toughness with 45 career starts, 3 full years of starting. Only missed 4 starts over the last 2 years despite almost 600 carries and many nagging injuries.
WeaknessesLots of wear on his body with all the production. His game does not translate to the NFL as well as it did in college. Frequently tries to run over linebackers instead of juking them or moving around them. Not the superstar or home run threat that many top runningback prospects usually are.
ProjectionYvenson has more than enough production and experience to be a first day pick, especially in a year like this, with very little runningback depth(very top heavy). However, Bernard faces an uphill battle because outside of Pac-10 country, he is virtually unknown. I expect him to be taken in the middle rounds, and could be an instant steal as a productive 2nd runningback and goal line situation ballcarrier.
