OverviewA tight-end with size and speed, has developed into a threat in the passing game ... shed weight prior to his junior season ... has improved as a blocker ... earned the starting tight-end nod in 2007 fall camp.
Performed OK at the Alabama Pro Day in early March, 2009. He ran 4.97 and 4.98 in the 40, put up a 31-inch vertical, a 4.99 short shuttle, a 7.90 three-cone drill and did 14 reps at 225. StrengthsVery good blocking TE with adequate hands. Gets good leverage and push in most run plays. Has a frame to grow, and might even grow into an offensive linemen if TE doesn't work out.
WeaknessesNo vertical speed. Does not possession separation quickness of the LOS as a receiver. Needs to really work on his upper body strength in order to be an even more consistent blocker. No "wow" factor here.
Projection6-7th round prospect, who could slide out of the draft due to a poor 40-time, and lousy bench press numbers.
