Overview

Red-shirted as a True Freshman and made conversion from Tailback to Defensive End. Started in 2004 and named 2nd Team Freshman All-American. In 2005, TCU made transition to Mountain West Conference and Blake was Conference's Defensive Player of the Year. Blake's Junior year saw him make a TFL in all but two games and again named to All-Conference 1st Team. Considered entering draft in 2007 after receiving a 2nd Round Grade from NFL's Advisory Committee. In August of 2007, Blake took first of two medical leaves of absence for undisclosed reasons; however, Blake later admitted stress was the underlying factor.

Strengths

Blake is notorious for his intial step and quickness off the edge. Blake is very strong for his size...a playing weight around 260 lbs. Blake could play as a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB at the next level.

Weaknesses

Heading into 2007 the biggest concern was Blake's size, which at 257 lbs could've forced a move to OLB in a 3-4 Defensive Scheme. Currently, Blake's undisclosed medical history and the fact that he's now 25 lbs over his previous playing weight more than likely will slow down his noted speed and decreased his stamina.

Projection

Blake has really seen his stock fall. Was previously a late 1st or 2nd Round projection but could slide all the way to Round 5 given his current circumstances. Combine and Pro-Day workouts will dictate selection, especially the medical tests and interview processes at the combine.

Blake is going to surprise some. He had problems with depression and could not take care of himself and his body earlier this year. Now that he has taken control of his problems his draft stock will rise back up. He cannot get back to his previous 1 or 2 round projection but he could fall into the 3 or 4 round. A team in need of a pass rusher that has the ability to take a chance (Indy, NE, Cle, Jax) should jump all over Blake. He showed that he is regrouping himself at his pro-day where he weighed in at 272 lbs. and ran a 4.75 40 yard dash. Those are good numbers for his position and should get him a reasonable pick.

Predicted Round: Round 2

Good pass rusher. Probably undersized for a 4-3, but would be phenomonal 3-4 Hybrid Rush LB. Great speed coming to TCU as a RB. excellent Motor. Could be 1st round pick for the right team, but likely 2nd rounder
