Overview

Deon is a solid person who loves the game of football and blocks with a passion, and can also catch and run.

NOTE: DNP during 2005 while he took care of personal issues that needed to be addressed.

Strengths

Versatility. Not a pure blocking FB, because he catches and runs too well to be stuck with that label, but he excels as a blocker. Comes up and absolutely pops people at the line of scrimmage. Secures the ball and pounds it well when handed to him. Catches very well for a fullback. A well-rounded athlete.

Weaknesses

Does not maintain his blocks as well as he should. More of a "pop and release" type, but his pop often drops his man. Not very big for an NFL fullback. Drops some catchable balls. Does not possess great speed. Somewhat like a big halfback, more than a classic NFL fullback.

Projection

7th-UDFA. An all-around FB who would have been a much-more highly sought commodity a couple of decades ago. Size will hold him down, but he does too many things too well to not make a camp. He could become the center of a war of nerves with teams that really like him that might even get him drafted late.
