Detroit - Senior running back Joique (say 'Joyk') Bell scored 5 rushing TDs and 1 receiving TD to lead his Wayne State Warriors to a homecoming victory over the visiting Ashland Eagles. Bell amassed 272 yards rushing on 32 carries (8.5 yards per carry), and caught 1 pass for 45 yards with just 26 seconds remaining to lift his team to a 47-40 win.
With the effort, Bell passes Walter Peyton (Jackson State, 1971-1974) to rank 9th on the all time D-2 scoring list. He also passes Ricky Williams of Texas (1995-1998) on the all time NCAA list to rank 15th.
Bell also set school records for rushing TDs in a game, total TDs in a game, and most offensive plays in a career (1,036).
