Round 1
  1. Jake Locker, QB, Washington
  2. Locker is the best QB in this draft whether Luck comes out of not
  3. Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
  4. The Panthers think they have their starting QB in Jimmy Clausen, so they go BPA.
  5. Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
  6. The niners need a franchise QB if they want to win games. Mallett could sit for a year or start, whatever the niners need, they'll have in Mallett.
  7. Jared Crick, DT, Nebraska
  8. The Browns need some help up front, and Crick can play NT, DE, anything the Browns need. Hell, he could even play OLB.......well, maybe not.
  9. AJ Green, WR, Georgia
  10. The Rams are using a bunch of scrubs as WRs for their franchise QB to throw to. That's gotta change. Green is one helluva player.
  11. Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
  12. Number one priority: protect the franchise QB. The best CB available is appealing here, but with the way the CBs have been playing the past 3 weeks, there is no need to draft a CB that high.
  13. Marcel Dareus, DE, Alabama
  14. The Broncos have most of their roster filled out besides for their defensive line. Dareus is the most talented 3-4 defensive lineman in this class. If it wasn't for some discipline reasons, he would be the first defensive lineman drafted in the class.
  15. Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
  16. I believe the Pats saw the value in Moss, and saw the future value in their draft picks. The Pats saw that they had the possibility of getting either AJ Green or Julio Jones. They get the next great downfield receiver in the NFL in Julio Jones. This offense just keeps getting better.
  17. Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
  18. I don't think Luck is going to go as high as many people believe, I think he lacks the necessary arm-strength to bomb the ball downfield. However, Pete Carroll would love to have the guy that just ripped his former team a new one. Luck could greatly succeed in Pete Carroll's offense.
  19. Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
  20. The Bengals have a great pass rusher in Antwan Odom, but nothing aside from him. They haven't had a problem drafting troubled players before, so they won't have a problem drafting Quinn.
  21. Anthony Castonzo, OT, BC
  22. The Cowboys released Flozell Adams and didn't do much to replace him. If they want their offense to succeed, they're going to need a new blindside protector.
  23. Adrian Clayborn, DT, Iowa
  24. The Vikings need a new franchise QB, but with the top 3 gone, so they take a DT to replace Pat Williams. Clayborn isn't having quite the year he was last season, but he's still one helluva talent. He can move inside and be great next to Kevin Williams.
  25. Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
  26. With the possibility of losing their top 2 RBs, Ingram is almost the only way to go for the 'Phins.
  27. Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
  28. Rasean Mathis is going to be 31 next year and the Jags secondary is declining. They get a stud to play across from Mathis for now, and his replacement for the future here in Amukamara.
  29. Janoris Jenkins, CB, Florida
  30. The Cards need a CB to play opposite DRC. Jenkins can be that guy. Not a bad consolation prize after the top 3 QBs are gone.
  31. Rahim Moore, S, UCLA
  32. The Bucs are having their fair-share of problems with Tanard Jackson, and he may not return. The Bucs find a great safety who could be his replacement.
  33. Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pitt
  34. The Chargers are going to lose Vincent Jackson one way or another. The Chargers replace him with another big WR.
  35. Mike Pouncey, C, Florida
  36. The Eagles have been having problems at center for the past two seasons. This year it has especially been a problem. They get a phenomenal center in Pouncey here.
  37. Daniel Thomas, RB, Kansas State
  38. The Redskins have no consistency at RB, and it is time they get a replacement. Daniel Thomas is a do-it-all back.
  39. Bruce Carter, LB, North Carolina
  40. The Texans need a LB opposite Cushing. With Cushing, Ryans, and Carter, they have the best LB corps in the league.
  41. Demarcus Love, G, Arkansas
  42. The Chiefs need some help inside with Brian Waters retiring soon. This time, they don't move the kid to tackle.
  43. Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M
  44. The Pats cut Adalius Thomas and have virtually nobody to replace him. They add another piece to the puzzle on this talented, young defense.
  45. Marvin Austin, DT, NC
  46. The Titans did not do a good job of replacing Albert Haynesworth after he left. They are lucky to find a guy like Austin this late in the first round. I don't know if they should be happy or not he got kicked off the team, Lol.
  47. Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech
  48. The Saints lost Reggie Bush for the season, and Pierre Thomas has been struggling with injuries this season. I would not be surprised to see the Saints let Bush walk and draft a RB. Williams is the best player available here (if he comes out).
  49. Lee Ziemba, OT, Auburn
  50. When your franchise QB goes down with a concussion after taking a lot of hits, you know it is time to revamp your oline. The Packers drafted Brian Bulaga last year, but they are in desperate need of a tackle opposite him. Ziemba can be that guy.
  51. Deandre McDaniel, S, Clemson
  52. The Colts lost their top 3 safeties this season. Bob Sanders is on his way out, so they replace him with another playmaker in Deandre McDaniel out of Clemson.
  53. Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama
  54. The Giants LB corps hasn't had much consistency this season. Hightower can come in and play MLB or OLB. It doesn't matter, he'll tear it up either way.
  55. Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
  56. Chris Williams has almost been a bust and the Bears can't let Cutler get sacked 9 times a half. Solder may be a project in some ways, but something tells me he's going to shock a lot of people.
  57. Greg Romeus, DE, Pitt
  58. The Falcons need somebody who can rush the passer opposite John Abraham. Enough said.
  59. Greg Jones, LB, Michigan State
  60. I am not a Greg Jones fan, but the Jets are possibly losing David Harris to free agency because they cannot afford to keep him (once again..."possibly"). Jones is the best available LB and the Jets have a thing for LBs from the state of Michigan.
  61. Ras-I Dowling, CB, Virginia
  62. The Steelers secondary has been playing good because of the pass rush, but without that, it would be horrible. The Steelers get a big physical corner that can match their style of play.
  63. Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA
  64. You can never have enough pass rushers. Period.

I don't think Crick could be a NT. 5 tech is probably his best spot, but he could play the 3 in a 4-3 defense. But I don't think he is coming out.

I think Crick could. You look at guys like Jason Ferguson and Jay Ratliff, they weren't the biggest guys, but they were (and Ratliff still is) awesome.

Wasn't the plan for Jared Odrick to be the Dolphins new NT eventually?

with respect i'm not sure locker is top 5 qbs

You don't think Locker is a top 5 QB in this draft???
Posted by hotbyoungturk on 10/16/10 - 9:29AM
No way AJ Green gets past the Browns..
Posted by Lionsman11 on 10/16/10 - 10:16AM
hotbyoungturk, I have the Browns passing on him because I think they want to build a better defense, and with Crick, they certainly could. After seeing fellow Cornhusker DT, Ndamukong Suh, tear apart the league, I think Crick will be hard to pass on.

I like Rahim Moore, but Cody Grimm is looking very good right now. Moore could not take a pick 6 like Grimm did. The only other player that I would want is Greg Romeus and we would take Romeus there. Our pass rush is garbage or we can trade up for Ingram our RBs are also garbage. If we dont take care of those two needs then Tampa will be in the top 5 in 2012 taking Alabama's other RB.

Two things that I see. First, I think the 49ers will go after Luck if they go QB. He's from Stanford, and I know a lot of people want that kid to be a 49er. Their owner will want to get the fans on his side with them wanting to build a new stadium soon. Second, the Chiefs invested a third round pick in guard Jon Asomoah in the last draft, so I doubt they go Guard again. The two big needs for the Chiefs are OLB and WR. Since the top 3 WRs have already been taken, I would go with Akeem Ayers.

Jerry's Wold, but Sean Jones has been injured, and he is not really even that good of a safety anyhow. Piscitelli is behind him and he is not what I would call a starter in this league. It is not just that Tanard Jackson is out, it also has to do with who else is in that deep secondary.
Posted by Lionsman11 on 10/17/10 - 9:15AM
theaxeeffect, the only thing that I haven't seen in Luck, is his ability to throw the ball downfield. In this league, that is a major concern. Mallett has the best arm in this draft. I don't exactly know what type of offense the niners run, but from what I have seen, they like to attack that deep middle a lot with Vernon Davis.
Posted by Jerry's World on 10/17/10 - 2:03PM
Oh well looks like Tampa is picking top 5 in 2012 cus Moore is garbage.
Posted by Jerry's World on 10/17/10 - 2:15PM
Dude we have more needs than S we have Cody Grimm and Tanard Jackson who is doing better. We have bigger needs like DE and RB. If you did some research you would know that. We are 32 in Rushing offense and 30th in rush defense. Rahim Moore would only help our secondary which is doing good anyway.
Posted by Jerry's World on 10/17/10 - 2:23PM
You can also go QB for us. Josh Freeman is garbage.
Posted by Lionsman11 on 10/17/10 - 2:46PM
Yes, I know how poor the Bucs rushing attack is, but what RB is worthy of a pick that high after Ingram? Nobody. And what DE in this mock is worthy of a pick that high after Quinn? Romeus has been hurt this season after back surgery, and I don't think he is worthy of a mid-1st round pick after it. And since when is Josh Freeman garbage? Without him, you guys would be nowhere.
Posted by Jerry's World on 10/17/10 - 5:16PM
Well, they just lost so they would probablyy go back down in the top 10. You have Ingram at 13. So, now its all good.
Posted by Lionsman11 on 10/17/10 - 5:22PM
Ok, well once I make a new mock, I will change that. I may just change the positioning once the new power rankings come out. Trust me, I planned on having them take Ingram if they were in the top 10, but since they fell, I thought their best option would be Moore.
