Shaun Hill will not be the 49ers' QB of the future, and Nate Davis was only a 5th round selection. Finishing with the worst record in the league, the 49ers will look to select their franchise QB. Bradford should clearly be the best QB in this draft class.
The Cleveland defense has tons of holes in it, and its biggest weakness may be the safety position. With the departure of Sean Jones, the starting safeties will now be Mike Adams and Brodney Pool. Berry is arguably the most talented player in this draft, and he would be a considerable upgrade over Pool or Adams from day 1.
The Lions will need another OT to go along with Gosder Cherilus heading into the future. Okung seems a bit more suitable to man the LT position. The Lions take the best O-Lineman in the draft with their first selection.
It looks as if Avery was a decent pick. However, they will need another receiver to compliment Avery. Holt was released, so the Rams will need to look for both an immediate replacement and a young receiver who will be a fixture on their team for years to come. Benn could be both.
The Chiefs are going to have some serious issues with the transition to the 3-4 Defense this year, as they have very few players suited to play in a 3-4. Hali had just 3 sacks all of last year, and Demorrio Williams should not be a starter. Kindle should be able to step in and contribute immediately.
Following the departure of Jovan Haye, the Bucs' starting DTs will be Ryan Sims and Chris Hovan. Aside from 2003, Sims has never had more than 16 tackles in a year. Hovan is aging, and he has not proven much in recent years. McCoy will provide a valuable upgrade on a very questionable D-Line.
Mays would be a perfect Al Davis selection. He is a gifted athlete who should run an excellent 40-time. Even if Mitchell turns out to be better than most people expect, the Raiders will still need someone to play FS alongside him.
Walter Jones cannot last forever, despite his seemingly infinite talent. The Seahawks will have to look for a new franchise LT, as no one currently on their roster can likely fill this void effectively. Bulaga would be the best solution.
The Bengals addressed plenty of needs on defense in the 2009 NFL draft. Benson performed well last year, but he has not proven at any point in his career that we can trust him to maintain those statistics for another year. Even if he does perform decently, the Bengals will look for another RB to platoon with Benson.
Stroud will be 31 by the start of the upcoming NFL season, and he has considerable mileage on him. Kyle Williams is a sub-par starting DT. Suh is arguably the best DT in this draft, so he should be able to become a fixture on the Bills' D-Line for years to come.
If the Jaguars end up with the 11th pick, it probably means that Garrard didn't perform very well. Therefore, the Jags will be seeking a franchise QB. Snead has great potential, beating out Tebow and McCoy as the #2 QB selected overall.
(Acquired via trade with Denver)
The Seahawks, despite losing Maurice Morris to free agency, failed to address the RB position over the offseason. A RB tandem of Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett is not what any team would like to have. The Seahawks will need to confront this issue in next year's draft.
Jason Ferguson is entering his contract year. He is also 34 years of age. The Dolphins may decide that they have a suitable future replacement in Paul Soliai, but Cody provides both good value and a need at this point.
The Packers do not have a lot of needs at this point. Most people would point out the O-Line issues they had last year. However, the Packers have used 7 picks from the first 5 rounds of the past 4 drafts on O-Linemen. They are loaded with young O-Linemen, and Ted Thompson will likely wait and see if his picks develop before using a 1st round pick on another one. Ted Thompson loves going with the BPA, and Gresham is an extraordinary talent.
With the release of Laverneus Coles, the Jets have now opened up a need at WR. They did not bother using any of their 3 draft picks on a wideout in the 2009 draft, so they will likely be seeking a WR in the 2010 draft. Chansi Stuckey is not fit to be a #2 WR in this league. The acquisition of Damian Williams will also make Sanchez more comfortable, as Williams was his #1 option at USC.
Alfred Fincher is currently their starter at SLB. The Redskins need an upgrade here. With Herzlich's unfortunate situation, Weatherspoon becomes the best 4-3 OLB prospect in this draft.
Derrick Mason is still excellent. But at the age of 35, you have to wonder how much he still has left in the tank. Clayton is the only other useable option at WR for the Ravens. Therefore, they would not pass up the opportunity to obtain arguably the most talented WR in this draft at #17.
(Acquired via trade with Chicago)
The Broncos do not have many players that are suited well for the 3-4. ILB may be the chief concern by the next offseason. Spikes would arguably be the BPA at this point, as well as a perfect fit for the scheme. It would be very tough to pass on him here.
The Cowboys have added Gerald Sensabaugh, but Ken Hamlin remains the starter at FS. They desperately need an upgrade here. Reshad Jones is easily the 2nd best FS in this draft.
(Acquired via trade with Carolina)
Parys Haralson has emerged as a pleasant surprise for this team, but they have no other potent pass rushing option at OLB. Although he had only 5.5 sacks last year, Selvie has shown tons of talent, athleticism, and potential. The 49ers will take a chance on him here.
Cortland Finnegan has emerged as a Pro Bowl-caliber CB, and Harper has done his job. However, Harper will soon become 35. Without many urgent needs, the Titans will take Harper's eventual replacement here.
Without Keith Brooking, the Falcons will now head into next year with Stephen Nicholas and Coy Wire/Mike Peterson as their OLBs. They could use an upgrade here, and McCoy is the best OLB left.
The Texans picked up Eugene Wilson in free agency, but he is not a long-term solution. Chancellor should be able to provide them with a stable option playing next to Harrison, Barber, or Ferguson.
The Vikings will be thrilled if Tebow falls to here. Rosenfels is not a long-term answer, and T-Jack has proven that he is not their franchise QB either. Tebow would be put into a great, non-stressful situation due to the luxury of having Adrian Peterson as his RB.
Even with the additions of Fili Moala and Terrance Taylor over the offseason, the Colts may still need another interior D-Lineman moving ahead. The Colts could obtain a potent Moala-Atkins combination at DT.
Lyle Sendlein is not terrible, but he is more suited to a backup role than a starting role. O'Dowd is an amazing talent. Pete Carroll obviously believes this, as O'Dowd was the first true freshman to ever start at center for USC.
The Eagles have plenty of defensive ends, but they also have very few needs. The Eagles cannot pass up a top 10 talent like Dunlap falling to them at #28.
The Steelers failed to address their glaring weakness at OT over the offseason. Starks and Colon will be the starters. Most people expect one, if not both, to be a liability. In addition, Trent would be a value pick here.
The Patriots have a ton of O-Linemen that are set to become free agents following the end of the upcoming season. In addition, Kaczur performed poorly at RT for them last year. Light will be getting up there in age soon, as well.
Many will question this pick, as it is obvious that neither Osi nor Tuck is likely to lose their starting job anytime soon. However, Osi is coming off of a serious injury. The Giants have little depth at DE behind them, especially if they choose to play Kiwanuka primarily at OLB. Griffen would provide nice depth, as well as a rotational DE who could eventually start due to a departure or injury to either Tuck or Osi. Griffen is selected here due to positional value, as well as having a considerable amount of value at #31.
Arthur Jones would be a steal at this point. He is the best 3-4 DE in this draft. Due to the departure of Igor Olshanksy, the Chargers will look to obtain a DE to start opposite to Luis Castillo. Arthur Jones could definitely fill this role effectively.
