OverviewGreat talent with red flags a-waving. Transferred to Jacksonville State to escape the limelight of L.S.U. and mature under the old school 0% tolerance for nonsense Jack Crowe. Ryan Perrilloux QB Jacksonville State University, likely to rise as he displays hard-won maturity acquired playing for no-nonsense old school coach Jack Crowe; he's 6'2" 227 and probably has the strongest arm in the class and nearly elite level mobility. He accepted an invitation to play in the Feb. 6 Texas vs. The Nation all-star game in El Paso, Texas, and he's signed with Favre's agent Bus Cook. His only setback since the season ended was undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee, however it seems minor, Perrilloux ranked first nationally in passing efficiency (172.58), after flaming out spectacularly with LSU, many wrote him off however I can find nobody who said he was a bad kid, just spectacularly spoiled and immature, all report indicate that the 23 year old Perrilloux is very different from the 20 year old who tantalized with talent but disappointed by lacking discipline. In my conversations with his coach Jack Crowe he said-"I coached Bo Jackson at Auburn, and Ryan is the same caliber athlete as Bo was. He's straightening out his life here, and almost every NFL team has sent a scout to see him."
Perrilloux's once promising career at LSU toended following several team rule violations that ultimate led to his expulsion from the team. After toying with several options, he ended up starting for Jacksonville State. Perrilloux had a solid 2009, throwing for 2,345 yards (138-236) with 23 TDs and only 2 interceptions; also running for 443 yards and 8 TDs. And his career 61.6% 5,372 yards, 50 TD 17 INT, and 1,031 yards rushing after sacks are subtracted. StrengthsPerrilloux is stronger armed and more polished than, Dennis Dixon. He has a good football frame with a live arm, and is an elite athlete with the speed (4.71 est.) to make something happen on the edge.
Perrilloux throws well on the run, and puts good zip on deep balls and has above average football intelligence. He throws extremely well on the run, and puts real snap and zip on deep balls; he is surprisingly accurate well beyond the 25 yard range. He is accurate in making pre-snap reads and audibles better than 85% of the QBs in college. WeaknessesHe is still seen by many as a major character risk and at times Perrilloux lacks patience in the pocket, and the consitency of his mechanics could use a bit of work. He can be hesitant in diagnosing disguised defenses and at times locks too long on his primary target, but he is improving in working through his progressions.
ProjectionPerrilloux could go as early as the late third and some teams will not even put him on their board, but some team will see a chance to get the "Randy Moss" of QBs and take him in the middle rounds.
