OverviewVersatile, athletic leader who accounted for 147 TDs passing and rushing to lead NCAA in his career. As a sophomore, joined Young and Tebow as the only players to ever pass for 3000 yards (3652 & 27 TDs) and rush (1122 & 19 TDs) for another 1000. Owns almost every MAC and school record for passing and scoring. A team leader recognized for his ability to perform under pressure and get the most out of his teammates. Shrine and Senior Bowl invitee. Had generally positive week of practice at Shrine bowl and threw and ran for a TD for the North in their victory.
StrengthsLeadership and decision-making that wins games are his best assets. He possesses great accuracy and touch, which complements his strong, but not elite, arm. Throws well on the run and very accurate on intermediate routes. While a pass-first quarterback, he is an extremely good runner who runs with power and is very difficult to tackle on the first hit. Physically comparable to most NFL quarterbacks, with good mass and strength. Has what it takes to win - seems to play his best in the biggest games.
WeaknessesHas been criticized as spread quarterback in a weak conference. Does not show elite arm strength, and will 'rainbow' some deep balls. Will 'finesse' throws that will be picks at the next level. Will need to show decision making skills and reads from under center.
ProjectionLate 2nd to 3rd Round. Seemed to meet expectations at Senior Bowl - has last chance to impress and help himself at the combine.
