OverviewMyron is a 2006 graduate of The Hun School in Princeton, N.J. where he graduated a full semester ahead of his graduating class and immediately enrolled at Florida State. He was named the ACC's preseason defensive newcomer of the year by The Sporting News and proved the publication correct by winning the award at the end of the season. He was declared the conference's No. 1 impact newcomer by Athlon Sports. Coming out of high school, Myron was No. 1-ranked player nationally on ESPN's 150 for 2006 after a senior season where he totaled 112 tackles including 14 tackles for minus yardage. He was also listed as the No. 1 athlete in the nation, and the No. 1 prospect in the state of New Jersey according to Rivals.com. He carried the coveted 5-star rating and was considered the 11th-best prospect in the nation by Rivals.com. He also received three out of a possible three stars from PrepStar Magazine and was named the No. 3 overall prospect on the magazine's Top 100 Dream Team. Locally, he was named the New Jersey Prep Defensive Player of the Year by the Newark Star Ledger as a junior after registering 83 tackles (19 for loss), 6 sacks and four interceptions. He also was invited to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl where he roomed with Clemson's C.J. Spiller. Finally, Myron was named the National Defensive Player of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Columbus, Ohio. In high school, he lined up at safety, cornerback, wide receiver and running back and also played four years of varsity basketball.
Nationally, Myron Rolle is best known for winning the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship after graduating in 2 1/2 years at Florida State (the Rhodes is often referred to as the Academic Heisman). He chose to skip his senior season of football and went to study at Oxford instead. He still aspires to an NFL career and participated in intense workouts during his stay in England. Senior Bowl invitee. Measurements - arm: 33.0" hand: 9.25" Notes: Athletic build, muscular, clearly he was lifting more than books while away. StrengthsTalented athlete with prototypical size and speed for the safety position. Versatile. Can play any backfield position, perhaps even corner. There has never been any question about the talent or the physical tools with Myron. Can fill the enforcer role when his mind is right and he hammers people when he has the clear shot, but knows when to wrap. Can cover pretty well too. Very smart. Understands the game and its nuances. Had a very good showing at the Senior Bowl, and looks to excel at the Combine as well.
WeaknessesRests on his laurels sometimes. Not the most instinctual player around, and that may be because he tends to over-analyze situations, tendencies, etc. prior to reacting. Not an elite hitter for his size. Book smart, but that may be an actual impediment. Sometimes looks a bit soft. Could be considered an athletic underachiever as a result of his play on the field. Never made as many impact plays as one with his ability should. His time away from the field could put a damper on his ability to contribute to a team immediately, as he will likely have to shake off some rust and get re-acclimated to the speed of the game.
ProjectionMany question his commitment to football as a result of him giving up his senior season to study at Oxford. I don't buy that for a minute. He's a talented player who is taking full advantage of his academic situation, knowing that the athletics can become a priority again now. He's going to be a huge PR asset for any team that drafts him, and front office folks may push him up draft boards some as a result. He's a guy who could be drafted anywhere from the late second to the late fourth rounds in the 2010 NFL Draft. Because of the lack of game tape on Rolle, his Combine performance could go a long way in determining his draft status.

His game tape from earlier years would indicate round 4. His intelligence, character, potential, and positive PR scream round 2. I think he'll fall somewhere between there, so I say round 3 (although I wouldn't be surprised if he's a Friday selection). User: UnderagedPhenom Date/Time: 12/28/2008 - 9:17AM CST Predicted Round: Round 2 early 2nd pick. have a feeling he will stay in college one more year because he loves school and is really smart. if he does declare, he will probably go late 1st, early 2nd User: GRAC92 Date/Time: 12/26/2008 - 8:18PM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 No Comments Submitted User: chiefsfan27 Date/Time: 12/7/2008 - 11:05AM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 No Comments Submitted User: ytse_jammer Date/Time: 11/4/2008 - 8:22PM CST Predicted Round: Round 1 Real great guy, does all sorts of work with kids, very smart. Has the body and athleticism to be an impact player, but he lacks a killer instinct. Seems too happy to be pretty good and not great, though he turns it up when his teammates are fired up. I would hope he stays in school and avoids the glut of safeties in the 09 draft. He would likely top the 2010 safety class. If he comes out in 2009 he'll be drafted somewhere between 20-40 overall.
