Overview2008 -- Second Team All-Big 12
At the combine Matt chose not to run his 40 or bench but had a 34" vertical jump, 9'2" broad jump, ran a 7.86 3-cone drill and a 4.86 20yd shuttle, all good numbers for a man so large. StrengthsHuge, powerful player with an ideal NFL frame. Engulfs defenders at the point of attack and drives them off the ball. Excellent in short yardage situations. Anchors vs. the bull rush and cannot be driven back into the pocket. Very tough and plays with a nasty disposition.
WeaknessesLimited athletically and is strictly an interior prospect; most likely only a RG. Phone-booth type player who can't get to the second level and who has trouble sustaining run blocks. Lacks agility and can't get outside. Vulnerable to stunts and quickness in pass protection.
ProjectionLimited player who must be in a power scheme to succeed, but ideally suited for the role. Plenty of NFL teams looking for his blend of size/toughness, so he should be a day two selection.
